Authorizes Thai company to use CTP technology CATL deploys in ASEAN

Recently, it was officially learned that CATL recently signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with Thailand's Arun Plus Co., Ltd. (Arun Plus). The two parties will cooperate on battery-related businesses in the ASEAN region to further enhance the competitive advantages of both parties in the battery industry.

The strategic cooperation between CATL and Arun Plus aims to promote the development of the electric vehicle industry chain. According to the agreement, CATL will authorize ArunPlus to use CTP (high-efficiency grouping) technology, and both parties will promote the application of CTP technology in Thailand and even around the world. Arun Plus is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Petroleum Thailand Company Limited (PTT).

This cooperation is the starting point for both parties to use advanced technology to create a closed loop of the electric vehicle value chain. Under the agreement, Arun Plus and CATL will supply battery products to Horizon Plus and other electric vehicle brands. Horizon Plus, a joint venture between Arun Plus and Foxconn, plans to produce electric vehicles in Thailand in 2024.

CTP technology has the characteristics of efficient integration. It is a technology that can integrate cells into battery packs without modules. . Using CATL's CTP technology can increase the system energy density of the battery pack, simplify the manufacturing process, and save costs.

Thailand expects to achieve the goal of electric vehicles accounting for no less than 30% of total automobile production by 2030. This cooperation will help develop the emerging electric vehicle ecosystem, promote Thailand's transition to a low-carbon economy, and create a regional electric vehicle center.
